Terms of Employment:

Permanent, Full Time (Overtime, Day, Evening, Split-Shifts, Weekend)

Wage information: $21 or more Hourly 40.00 Hours per week plus gratuities.

Work Setting: Italian Restaurant – Cuisine Specialty: Italian (also European cuisine: French, Spanish, Mediterranean cuisine); As a Pastry chef, also known as dessert chef, you will be responsible for planning and directing food preparation and cooking activities in the pastry section of the kitchen, preparing and baking various goods, such as cakes, cookies, pies, and bread, following traditional and modern recipes. You will be expected to create new and exciting desserts to enhance menus and engage customers. You should be passionate about baking and be inspired to create masterpieces that go beyond our customers’ expectations.

Skill Requirements: Education: Completion of high school Experience: Over one year of experience working as a Pastry Chef or a Baker. Languages: Speak English, Read English.  Weight Handling: Up to 10 kg (20 lbs)

Job Duties: Planning, implementing and directing daily operations of the pastry section of the kitchen and liaising with the executive and sous chefs to ensure a successful working environment; Preparing menus, suggesting new menu items; Preparing ingredients and handling baking and other kitchen equipment; Creating pastries, baked goods, and confections, by following a set recipe; Decorate pastries using different icings, toppings so that they are appealing to the eye; Developing new recipes for seasonal menus; Decorating pastries and desserts to ensure beautiful and tasteful presentation; Understand visitors’ preferences and make suggestions based on findings; Monitor supplies and ingredients necessary for daily operations; Check quality of material and condition of equipment; Ordering new supplies, ingredients, and equipment for the pastry section, when needed, and within budget; Ensuring their section of the kitchen adheres to safety and health regulations; Maintaining a clean cooking station; Adhering to health and safety standards; Keeping abreast with the latest food and industry trends.

Additional Skills: Working knowledge of baking techniques and the pastry-making process; Creative ability with artistic skill in decorating cakes and other desserts; Keen attention to detail; In-depth knowledge of sanitation principles, food preparation, and nutrition; Flexible working hours, including weekends and evenings, when necessary; Capable of working in a fast-paced, production environment. Must be able to guide and train the subordinates on a daily basis to ensure high motivation and economical working environment; Should be able to set an example to others for personal hygiene and cleanliness on and off duty; Daily feedback collection and reporting of issues as they arise; Assess quality control and adhere to restaurant service standards; Carry out any other duties as required by management.
