Position: Retail Buyer (NOC 62101)

Salary: C$29.50/hour

Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Hours of Work: 35 hours/week

JOB DESCRIPTION:

· Establish and maintain strong relationships with existing suppliers and source new ones for future product needs.

· Attend factories and tradeshows locally and internationally to follow and select the latest flooring designs and stay current on industry trends and standards.

· Develop purchasing plans that align with Green Floors’ business goals and profit expectations.

· Purchase flooring products for retail resale in the North American market.

· Identify and select flooring suppliers that meet North American market needs and quality standards.

· Monitor and record inventory levels to maintain optimal stock and meet demand.

· Meet with flooring suppliers and negotiate purchasing contracts, including pricing, discounts, promotions, and delivery schedules to meet gross profit expectations.

· Manage minimal defective returns and oversee flooring product quality.

· Report on product performance and help make decisions on promotions or new product purchases.

· Work closely with the sales team to develop effective purchasing strategies and achieve business goals.

 

EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:

· Completion of secondary school is required.

· A university degree or college diploma in business, marketing, or a related field is preferred.

· Minimum 1 year of experience in retail, or wholesale buyer in flooring or related industry.

· Good communication skills, both written and verbal in English.

· Strong organizational, planning and decision-making skills.

· Excellent analytical and strategic thinking skills.

· Occasionally travel throughout Canada, the United States, or Asia as business requires.
